La Koshia R. Roberts, Esq. is a
Lake Charles native and an attorney with twenty years of experience.
She has experience as a local and state government attorney, and as a private attorney, having served as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of
Monroe, Louisiana, as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Louisiana,
the Legal Counsel for St. Bernard Parish Government and the Attorney for the
Governorís Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Mitigation
Grant Program. Her experience includes
litigation, transactional, compliance and appellate work.
graduating from college, La Koshia taught gifted and talented 7th
grade American History and English and 8th grade English in St.
Tammany Parish and magnet 6th grade English in East Baton Rouge
Parish. She has also taught in the
Criminal Justice Program at Sowela Technical Community College and in the
paralegal studies programs at McNeese State University and Grambling State
Roberts earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Education from Southern University in Baton Rouge. She also earned a Juris Doctor from the Southern University Law Center. Roberts is also a graduate of the Harvard
University John F. Kennedy School of Governmentís Senior Executives in State
and Local Government Program
She is a
member of the Louisiana Board of Ethics and the Supervisory Committee for Campaign Finance, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Bars of the Western, Middle and
Eastern Districts of the United States District Courts in Louisiana. Also, she is a former member of the Louisiana Lottery Corporation Board of Directors.
Roberts is admitted to practice before the
United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of
the United States.
